Price and overview
$29.99 (list price $39.99)
The ANCEL AD310 is a handheld OBD II diagnostic scanner that reads and clears engine fault codes related to your vehicle's emissions system. It works with most 1996 and newer cars, light trucks, and SUVs that use OBD2 or CAN protocols, and is currently discounted to $29.99.
What it does
- Read fault codes. Determines why your check engine light is on by reading diagnostic trouble codes from your vehicle's emissions system.
- Clear codes. Removes fault codes after you've fixed the underlying problem.
- Live data and freeze frame. Shows real-time sensor information and captures data from when a fault occurred.
- Readiness monitor. Displays the status of emissions system tests.
- Vehicle information. Collects details about your car's make, model, and specifications.
- Fast results. Reads and clears codes within seconds after repairs are made.
Power and warranty
The scanner draws power directly from your vehicle's OBD2 data link connector, so no batteries or charging are required. It weighs 12 ounces and measures 8.9 x 6.9 x 1.4 inches, making it compact enough to carry in a backpack. A 2.5-foot cable with thick, flexible insulation connects to your vehicle's diagnostic port.
Good to know before you buy
- Emissions-only. This scanner only reads codes related to your vehicle's emissions system, not other engine faults or systems like ABS, SRS, or transmission.
- OBD2 required. It works only with vehicles that have an OBD2 interface (1996 and newer for US vehicles, 2000 and newer for EU and Asian vehicles). It will not work with older OBD1 systems, even with an adapter.
- Protocol support. While the device supports all five OBD2 protocols (KWP2000, J1850 VPW, ISO9141, J1850 PWM, and CAN), you should confirm compatibility with the seller before purchasing.
In the box
The package includes the AD310 scanner and the 2.5-foot cable with OBD2 connector.
Who it suits
This tool is practical for anyone who wants to check their vehicle's emissions status without paying for a diagnostic scan at a shop. It's particularly useful if you own multiple vehicles or travel frequently, since it's portable and doesn't require power sources. It's not the right choice if you need to diagnose problems outside the emissions system, such as transmission, ABS, or airbag issues.
